#reverbbroads – Hooky, hooky, hooky. Sweeter than a cookie…

Yes yes, I’m way behind on prompts, but I’m afraid that’s just how it will have to be.  Unlike the winter where we’re stuck inside from the cold, snowy muck, summers are filled with lots of activities with my family, especially on the weekends.  So there are going to be prompts that I will miss.  I’m ok with that, hope you are too.   Ok?  Good.

If you were to play hooky from work today, what would you do instead?

I’m extremely fortunate that I have a part-time techie job that let’s me pick and choose which days I work.  However, being a SAHM (stay-at-home mom for those acronym challenged folk) is one job that’s a bit difficult to ditch at a moments notice.  If someone knows that magical person I can contact to call in sick for mommy duties, please pass it on.  But I suspect the purpose of this prompt is to get us to think about our favorite activities/stress-relievers/guilty pleasures and share those with the world, so I will take that route. (But if you do have that number, share, seriously.)

It’s become difficult to think of a day where there’s absolutely nothing that has/needs to be done.  So, I’m going to really stretch the imagination and pretend I can take a full day off and not suffer any consequences for doing so.  There was a time when that was possible.  Seems so far away…

My first thought is I would just get out of the house, find someplace I can relax and enjoy nature.  If the weather is nice (which is really isn’t here today, kinda cloudy and is supposed to rain), I would head to the beach with some food and a good book.  Yes, a book.  For those that know me, I’m not a big reader, even less so when life gets busy.  But when I have the time, there are many books out there I would like to enjoy.  I’m not really much of a fiction reader, so it would probably be a book on spirituality of some kind, something that would teach me something new.  I would take some time to soak in the sun, feel the breezes and reflect on how quiet and peaceful life can be.  Ahhhhh, yes, peace and solitude, two of my very favorite things…

If the weather is uncooperative, I think I would just have a lazy day at home.  Get up whenever I want, have some breakfast, play online for a bit, maybe take a nap, and again, read.

But, as it is, my kiddos will be up soon and I have a kitchen to clean, so off I trot back to reality.  Sigh…
