Oooo, this one’s a no-brainer!
Ever since I was about 5 years old, I have loved Astronomy. I could list all the planets by the time I was 6, knew where they located, what colors they were. In college, I took Astronomy as one of my 5 credit science courses, and I just fell in love with it. Strangely, I didn’t seem to have any problems with the math, which anyone that knows me knows that math is not one of my strong points.
If my school had offered an Astronomy degree (I think you could take it as a minor), I would’ve jumped on it. I imagine being Ellie Arroway in the movie “Contact”, where all I do all night and day is “listen” for extraterrestrial life. Sounds utterly boring to most, I’m sure… I also can listen to hours upon hours of audio tape listening for EVPs (Electronic voice phenomenon, for those not familiar with ghost hunting). Yeah, I’m a bit weird that way…
Had I not also made the amazing discovery of the Internet at the same time I was taking Astronomy, I may very well have made it my minor. (It was actually in my Astronomy class where I sent my first email that lead me to my current degree in Management Computer Systems) I’m glad I took the path I did. But if money & time were no issue, I’d easily pursue a degree in Astronomy.
In case you’re wondering, yes, I have studied Astrology. I’m a Capricorn with Scorpio moon and Aquarius ascendant. How about you? 🙂
