What is the one thing you finally did this year that you always wanted or said you were going to do, but in your heart of hearts never thought you would actually do?
Hmm, I can’t actually say I did anything that I absolutely knew beyond any shadow of a doubt that I would never do. I’m not really a “I’ll never do that” kinda gal. I like to keep my options open. There’s often things that will limit what I can do at any given time (finances, time commitments, etc) but there’s very little on the “Never, no way, nuh uh!” list. There’s a couple of things that I did that I knew would be either difficult or exciting, so I’ll run with those. 🙂
For the first time since I started having babies, I went on a diet, Weightwatchers to be specific. Over the course of the year, I’ve lost 20 lbs. Granted, I had lost 35 lbs at one point, but I’ve regressed some in the last few months… I really hate diets, not because of the inevitable restrictions and such, but because I run into the same road block every.single.time I try one. I manage to lose about 30 lbs, then the diet simply stops working, no matter how strictly I stick to it. I have yet to understand why this keeps happening, and no doctor can find any physical reason for this.  I had hoped with WW’s changes to their Points Plan that it might be different this time, but alas, it was the same old story. But regardless, I’m happy that at the end of the year, I’m still down 20 lbs. I suspect this is a pattern I’m going to have to continue until I find the trigger that my body is reacting badly to. So, maybe my weight loss will have to happen in spurts. I’m ok with that, as long as the overall trend is down. 🙂
My second adventure this year revolved around the decision to head to Pagan Spirit Gathering (PSG) for Summer Solstice. I’ve been wanting to go for years, but there was always some obstacle, usually my husband heehawing about spending the money, taking the time off, etc etc. However, good fortune dropped a nice big tax refund check in our pockets, so off we went. In one word, it was AMAZING, even the hubby is still glowing from our week amongst the wild pagan folk. We’re already planning for next year. 🙂
